DALLAS, Texas (CNN) – The count has risen to eight people who were killed in the Dallas suburb of Garland during Saturday’s outbreak of storms, police said.

Officials believe that four  of the deaths were related to vehicles struck by a tornado that touched down in the southeast part of the city, Garland police spokesman Officer Joe Harn said.
