HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – While your gifts may already be bought and under the tree, consumer advocates say that’s not stopping scammers from trying to take what’s left of your already dwindling holiday budget.

Officials at the Better Business Bureau offer up this list of what they say are common holiday scams:

  1. Look-alike websites
  2. Fake shipping notifications
  3. Fake E-cards
  4. Forged letters from Santa
  5. Phony charities
  6. Social media gift exchange
  7. Free gift cards

Consumer advocates say many of these scams are meant to trick you in to giving away your personal information.
