MADISON COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – County commissioners vote on their part of a partnership with Limestone County and the city of Huntsville, finalizing their obligation to General Electric Aviation.

“Over a two-year period, Madison County will participate with a $250,000 per year,” said Commission Chairman Dale Strong.

The $500K investment will come from the county’s reserve funding.

Commissioner Roger Jones mentioned deteriorating roads in District One as part of his concern about the county budget.

“I certainly support this effort for GE Aviation to come to this area,” said Jones. “But we have some really pressing issues that we have to address in my opinion

But commissioners say it will help their tax base, with far more jobs expected down the line.

“We have made these incentives based on employment numbers,” explains Strong. “If those numbers aren’t met, we’re refunded that money but I guarantee you we’ll never look back about this announcement with General Electric.”
