UPDATE: Albertville officer on suspension after domestic violence arrest

ETOWAH COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) –  Albertville leaders confirm an Albertville Police officer has been arrested.

David William Atwell, 42, and his wife, Rebecca Lynn Atwell, 52, were both booked for domestic violence Saturday evening.

Police Chief Doug Pollard released the following statement:

“We had a meeting [Sunday] morning with David about the current situation of his arrest.  As per the city rules and regulations, he has been placed on suspension without pay until the outcome of the court proceedings which are set for December 8th in Etowah County.  His status with the department will be re-evaluated at that time.”

The City of Albertville website lists David Atwell as a training officer.

Both have their bonds set at $1000 each.
