HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – The Veterans of North Alabama Services Assistance Program is hosting its inaugural auction this Saturday. This is their effort to raise money to serve those who have already served us.

Army Veteran Moses Nervis enjoys helping out his fellow military members, especially those relying on the Veterans of North Alabama.

“I’m helping people just like me,” SSG (Ret.) Moses Nervis said. “It has to do with the choices that we made and I made some choices that could have put me in this position but now that it didn’t, I’m seeing how I can help others that really just need a hand up.”

This nonprofit organization ensures veterans’ homes are furnished, regardless of their finances.

“We try to supply everything from the roof to the floor and wall to wall,” SSG. (ret.) Nervis said.

On Saturday, the organization hopes you’ll support their efforts during a live auction beginning at 10:01 a.m. at their warehouse. The building is located at 625 Dan Tibbs Road.

“We’ll be able to purchase things like coffee makers, pots and pans and things that we don’t get a lot in,” said Jane Dow, the group’s president.

They have a packed warehouse full of donated items.  So, what’s new to you will aid in a new start for some veterans and their families.

“The money will go directly into an account for purchasing items for the veterans,” Dow said. “Show up, be here, you’re going to get some great deals!”

The auction will be held at the Veterans of North Alabama's warehouse, located at 625 Dan Tibbs Road.
