RAINSVILLE, Ala. – A community event to help a local teenager and his family was an overwhelming success on Sunday.

Family and friends of Bryson Richey organized the Bryson Strong 5K and Fun Run to help the family with medical expenses. Bryson lost his leg in an ATV accident in August.

The teen has a strong will and spirit, though. Teammates and parents from the community as well as his athletic teams have embraced him to offer support.

Sunday’s event at the DeKalb County Schools Coliseum raised $37,000 for the family. More than 700 people participated in the 5K and Fun Run.
