DECATUR, Ala. - Emergency crews responded to Independence Tube in Decatur because of a deadly incident early Wednesday morning. One employee was killed.
It happened just before 4 a.m. Decatur Police say 49-year-old Gary Timothy Cooper was working in the plant handling steel coils when one of the coils fell on him. It weighed approximately 6,000 pounds.
Cooper went by the name "Tim" and lived in Hartselle, but was originally from Decatur.
Police say no foul play is suspected.
