HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The city's Air Pollution Control Board recognized several businesses and UAH recently.

On October 21, the board honored Boeing, the National Copper and Smelting Company, PPG Aerospace Transparencies, Toyota, and Nexus Energy Center for emissions reduction or air quality and education.

"Part of the reason is for positive reinforcement to recognize things that are done, and part of it is to encourage other companies to emulate what these companies have done. Sort of to lead by way of example," said Daniel Shea, the City's Director of Natural Resources.

The Air Pollution Control Achievement Awards began in 1997.  Each year, the board presents the awards in late summer or early fall.
