ATHENS, Ala. – October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and people in the city of Athens Wednesday pulled together to reminded us why we can never give up the fight to #beatcancer.
Athens city employees wore Prostate Cancer Awareness shirts in honor of Fire Marshal James Hand, who had surgery Wednesday morning.
City employees and others also supported the Pink Elephant Luncheon for Breast Cancer Awareness and mammogram scholarships.
And finally, a furry friend with terminal cancer checked off a bucket list item. Zada, a 9-year-old dog with terminal cancer ate ice cream from the Kreme Delite in downtown Athens. Zada will soon have a steak dinner and a trip to the beach to play in the ocean.
