AUBURN, Ala. - Auburn senior wide receiver D'haquille 'Duke' Williams has been dismissed from the team, Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn announced Monday evening.

"When individuals fail to meet the expectations of our program, there has to be consequences," Malzahn said. "I gave D'haquille the chance to prove himself. I am disappointed that it did not work out."

The details surrounding Williams' departure have not been made public.

Williams was notably absent from some pre-season practice sessions after dealing with an unspecified "disciplinary issue," but returned for 12 catches for 147 yards and one touchdown through the first five games of the season. He was also suspended during the Outback Bowl in December 2014.
