MORGAN COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT)-- A Danville man is behind bars right now after leading troopers on a high speed chase.

Officers say it happened around 10:30 last night when they attempted to pull the man over for speeding. Instead of pulling over the driver sped off. The chase lasted for 45 minutes and involved state troopers and Morgan County deputies. Officers say they reached speeds of 120 mph.

Officers followed the man's Chevrolet Cruz into Lawrence County and then back to Morgan County. One trooper crashed his patrol car in the process, but wasn't injured.

Troopers caught up to him in the 100 block of Starky Rd. He was attempting to hide his car behind a camper in someone's back yard.

Troopers say the driver will face numerous felony traffic charges. He already had a warrant for his arrest in Morgan County.
