MADISON, Ala. – Madison Police Officer Eric Parker has a hearing scheduled in Limestone County for an assault charge he faces. That’s in addition to the federal charges he faces in the case.

Police dash camera video shows Parker slamming Sureshbhai Patel, 57, into the ground after a short exchange with the man from India. Parker was responding to a call of a suspicious person wandering the neighborhood.

The criminal case against Parker had been on hold while his federal charges played out in court. Last week, the judge in the case declared a mistrial because of a hung jury.

At today’s hearing, scheduled for 9 a.m., we should learn how the criminal case will proceed.
