Russellville Police charge man with sexually abusing a child

RUSSELLVILLE, Ala. – Russellville Police arrested a man and charged him with sexually abusing a child less than 12 years old.

Russellville Police said it started on August 22nd, when they opened an investigation into an allegation of sexual abuse. Police said 25-year-old Joshua Nolan Smith is accused of sexually abusing a child at some point during 2014.

Forensic investigators with the Franklin County Department of Human Resources assisted in the investigation.

Russellville Police said the interview with Smith gave them enough evidence to charge him with sexual abuse of a child less than 12-years-old.

He was arrested on September 9 and a bond hearing was held September 10. His bond was set at $10,000 and he was transferred to Franklin County Jail.
