LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – A Limestone County couple now faces some new theft charges. That’s on top of charges related to a cross-county chase in June.

Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson reports Buffy Wachsman and Christopher Joe Hodges, who were both already in the county jail on previous charges, were arrested on Friday for burglary charges.

Investigators say they identified the two as suspects in a purse theft. Police say a woman reported her purse missing on June 19. The woman told police the bag was in her vehicle in her garage, but later in the day it was missing. The purse contained the woman’s driver’s license, credit cards and other miscellaneous items.

The next day, the victim discovered her credit cards had been used at Wal-Mart in Madison, Dollar General on Highway 72 and County Line Road and at Burger King on Highway 72 East in Madison.

Investigators were able to get photos of the suspects using the stolen credit cards at Wal-Mart. Another investigator with the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office was able to identify the two in the surveillance photo as Wachsman and Hodges.

Both Wachsman and Hodges were arrested and charged after a pursuit on June 25 that went from Limestone to Madison County.
