UPDATE: 5 dead, 5 missing after Typhoon Soudelor slams Taiwan

(CNN) — Typhoon Soudelor pounded Taiwan with fierce winds and torrential rain Saturday, killing four people, including a mother and daughter swept out to sea, state media reported.

The girl, 8, and her mother were among the fatalities, Taiwan’s Central News Agency reported. The girl’s twin sister is unaccounted for, it said.

At least 27 people were injured.
