ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- A 911 dispatcher in New Mexico has been reassigned after allegedly hanging up on a woman who was trying to keep her friend alive.

Audio from the 911 call was released on Tuesday. The dispatcher, identified as Matthew Sanchez, sounds as though he is frustrated with the caller who was trying to save 17-year-old Jaydon Chavez-Silver.

Chavez-Silver was shot by a gunman who opened fire outside a house party around 10 p.m. on June 26, according to NBC News.

When the caller cursed over the phone, the dispatcher hung up on her.

Caller: I’m keeping him alive…

Dispatcher: Is he not breathing?

Caller: Barely. Take one more breath – there you go, Jaydon. ... Stay with me, stay with me, ok. Good job, Jaydon.

Dispatcher: Is he breathing?

Caller: He is barely breathing. How may times do I have to f**king tell you?

Dispatcher: Ok, you know what ma’am? You can deal with it yourself. I’m not going to deal with this, ok.

Caller: No! My friend is dying! ...

Chavez-Silver died from his injuries. His mother, Nicole Chavez, said in a statement to KOB that the 911 call only confirmed the rumors that her son wasn't given the care he needed.

"We heard rumors about the 911 operator hanging up on the caller when Jaydon was shot but had no other information. After hearing the call today, it is heartbreaking to listen to," she told KOB. "Right now, we just want to find the people responsible for this violent, deadly crime."

Chavez-Silver was sitting on a kitchen counter when police say someone fired approximately six shots into the home.

Officials are now looking into other calls Sanchez has answered to see if those calls were handled in a similar way.

Sanchez submitted his resignation after being removed from the dispatch center, a city spokesperson told KOB.
