Two rescued from High Falls area in DeKalb County after getting lost

DEKALB COUNTY, Ala. – Two people were reported missing early this morning after getting lost in High Falls area. Both were found safe by rescuers.

Sheriff Jimmy Harris says his deputies worked with the Geraldine Police Department, Geraldine Rescue Squad, Grove Oak Fire, State Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agents and an ALEA helicopter to find the missing duo.

Rescuers found them at 4:28 this morning, and brought them out about 5:15 a.m.

The rescued people told investigators they started fishing at Highway 227, and were walking down Town Creek toward High Falls. That’s when they got lost.

The victims had no injuries.
