HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The Caring House of Hospice Family Care focuses on the idea of children helping children grieve. It is modeled after the National Center for Grieving Children and is very similar to The Dougy Center in Portland, Oregon. The organization provides grief support for children ages 3 to 18.
The Caring House places a specific focus on three pillars:
1. Understanding a death occurred
2. Recognize that grief is a natural reaction to a death and how to deal with emotions that grief brings
3. Start living a healthy lifestyle while coping with grief
The organization provides service in four areas: Groups at the Caring House facility, groups in schools, pre-bereavement, and crisis intervention. Services are free to anyone in need. You can call (256) 650-1212 for more information about the Caring House of Hospice Family Care.
