HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Sci-Quest, Hands-on Science Center announced today that the organization has received a $50,000 matching grant donation from UTC Aerospace Systems. The grant will support the nonprofit Science Center’s educational programs and its mission to serve the public and inspire a lifelong quest for discovery through educational and interactive science.

“We are at a critical time in Sci-Quest’s development,” said Sci-Quest Executive Director, Cyndy Morgan. “This grant and its supporting match will enable us to continue providing quality STEM educational programs to all the children, families, teachers and communities we currently serve. Since opening in our new location in February 2014, Sci-Quest has seen more visitors than ever before in the history of our existence. We deeply thank UTC Aerospace Systems for their support and belief in our organization and mission in STEM education.”

UTC Aerospace Systems has issued this matching grant to energize other corporations and individuals in the community to provide funding for Sci-Quest. A matching grant requires the recipient to match the gift dollar-for-dollar from other sources. Any donation made by Sept. 30, 2015 will go towards the matching grant total.

“UTC Aerospace Systems is proud to support Sci-Quest Hands-on Science Center’s mission of inspiring the next generation of scientists and engineers. Innovation is at the heart of everything we do, and these young minds are the innovators of tomorrow. Today’s matching grant illustrates UTC Aerospace Systems’ investments in the communities where we live and work,” said UTC Aerospace Systems Market Manager, Eric Newman.

The grant from UTC Aerospace Systems will also bring new technology to Sci-Quest’s educational programs, including new tablets and updated computer software.

“UTC Aerospace Systems’ generous matching grant already gives us a huge boost,” said Sci-Quest Development/Marketing Director, Jennifer Deermer. “We hope this inspires other businesses, individuals, and families to come forward to help us reach this important goal. Every dollar will matter.”
