JACKSON COUNTY, Ala. - Court documents show Barry Whitton, who is charged in the murder of his first wife, attempted to keep someone from testifying in the murder trial scheduled for September 9, 2015.
The charges, filed today, say the threat occurred on June 10, 2015. Dennis Whitton says Barry tried to threaten him into avoiding a summons to testify.
Whitton is currently in the Cullman County Jail awaiting trial.
Whitton has pleaded not guilty to the murder of his first wife, Michelle Whitton. The 28-year-old was reported missing on December 7, 1997. Six weeks later, her body was found near the Powell area of DeKalb County.
