Morgan County deputies make arrest after alert from pharmacy

MORGAN COUNTY, Ala. – The Morgan County Drug Task Force credit an area pharmacy for alerting investigators to a man arrested on drug manufacturing charges.

The pharmacy told investigators that a repeat customers was trying to buy cold medicine containing pseudoephedrine. Agents say they watched Patrick Gunnar Prater, 24, purchase cold pills frequently.

Those agents alerted Hartselle Police who told them Prater had a suspended driver license. A Hartselle officer says he watched Prater get in a vehicle and drive onto Highway 31, so he initiated a traffic stop.

Drug Task Force Agents arrived at the traffic stop, and they say they learned Prater was trading the cold pills with someone who manufactures methamphetamine.

Prater is charged with the Unlawful Manufacturing of a Controlled Substance. He’s in the Morgan County Jail with bond set at $5,000.
