Georgina Chapman and Letricia Ogutu, President and Vice President of Susie's Wish sat down with Steve Johnson to discuss an upcoming fundraiser the organization is holding to send another worthy family to the beach.
Huntsville, Alabama (May 5, 2015) – Susie’s Beach Fest will take place on June 25, 2015, from 6-10 pm at A.M. Booth’s Lumberyard. The fundraiser will include several tons of sand to create a mini-beach, music by CBDB, food trucks, beach cocktails and artwork. Tickets are $15 in advance, available at www.susiesbeachfest.eventbrite.com, or $20 at the door.
All proceeds will benefit Susie’s Wish, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which raises money to send people with life threatening illnesses to the beach. The featured band CBDB made it to one of the final voting rounds for Bonnaroo and will be a big draw for this region.
Susie’s Wish was established in memory of Susie Edwards who died at the age of 34 of liver cancer. Susie hoped to go to the beach one last time, but sadly, she passed away before her family and friends were able to take her on that last trip. Today, Susie’s Wish hopes no one with a life threatening illness and their families run out of time. By partnering with Huntsville Hospital Foundation and Hospice Family Care, Susie’s Wish sends patients on an all-expenses paid trip to the beach by asking for donated condos and raising money for food and travel. To date, the foundation has sent four patients to the beach with their families. Proceeds from Susie’s Beach Fest 2015 will send a fifth patient to the Pepsi Gulf Coast Jam in Panama City Beach, FL.
Individuals interested in learning more about Susie’s Beach Fest or businesses wanting to sponsor or donate a condo may contact email@example.com. Donations are tax deductible. More information can also be found at www.facebook.com/susieswish.
Susie may not have been able to sit in the sun and dip her toes in the sand one last time, but through Susie’s Wish, we can help make this happen for another local family in need.
