ATHENS, Ala. (WHNT) – A couple of nurses at Athens-Limestone Hospital share a commonality: they both have multiple sclerosis.

Pam Gaston and Ella Ball spend much of their time on their feet. They are glad of that because the disease they have robs people of their mobility.

“You’re just really tired in the afternoon,” Gaston said.

“I became bed-bound, wheelchair-bound, worked myself back up,” Ball said.

They both try to eat healthy and exercise each day to hold off the affects of MS for as long as possible. That’s why they are excited to volunteer at and spread the word about the 2015 Bike MS event on June 6th in Athens. It’s a 100 mile path from start to finish.

The event is designed to spread awareness about MS and raise money for research to find a cure.
