Scottsboro man charged with enticing children, accused of writing love letters to young girls
SCOTTSBORO, Ala. (WHNT) – Scottsboro Police say the manager of a local mobile home park is charged with enticing a child for immoral purposes.
Police say they received a complaint from a resident about Benjamin Uriah Matthews on Friday, May 15.
Police say Matthews had been writing letters to young girls, ages 11 to 13, asking if they wanted to be his girlfriend. He also wrote that he wanted to marry them. There were four girls total.
On Monday, May 18, Matthews was arrested on three counts of enticing a child for immoral purposes. He is currently being held at the Jackson County Jail and has a bond set at $60,000.
