HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - They may have already knocked on your door.  Consumer advocates say there is a new scam going around that involves a supposed alarm company.

A door-to-door alarm company is making the rounds in northwest Huntsville.   The Better Business Bureau of North Alabama says the company is called Alarm Protection, and they have a history of using high pressure tactics.

The company in question is asking consumers to switch from their current provider to Alarm Protection.   They've targeted other areas of Alabama, but seem to be stationed in Huntsville right now.

The company's headquarters is based in Salt Lake City, Utah.  There are 116 complaints filed against the business.  Not to mention, their accreditation was revoked a couple of years ago.

Here's what they o to entice consumers.

"If you purchase from me now, I will give you a huge discount and you will be taken care of but you will never hear from that person again, if indeed you actually get the service," said Elizabeth Garcia, President of the North Alabama BBB.

If this company has paid you a visit, we'd like to hear from you.   Call our WHNT News 19/BBB Consumer Action Line at (256) 850-0719.

And don't forget, if you get a pitch from a door to door salesperson, don't jump on the offer.  Think on it and do your homework.   If they're an honest company, they will come back.
