ALBERTVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - The Albertville Fire Department fought a large fire at B&C Music on South Broad Street throughout the morning Friday.  There's not much left of the business, sadly.

The store caught fire around 9:15 a.m. and heavy smoke and flames poured out of the business for more than two hours.  Smoke was heavy over downtown Albertville, and police blocked off traffic on Highway 75 until after late in the afternoon.  All downtown roads reopened just before 4 p.m.

B&C had been in the location for several years, and carried musical instruments, sheet music and other supplies.  It was the only store of its kind, residents say.

Some fire units remained on the scene late in the day for cleanup and investigation.

Updated information from WHNT News 19’s Shevaun Bryan:

The fire was reported at 9:15 a.m. about heavy smoke at the
business.

The owner was believed to be inside at the time, but got out
safely.

Three fire departments are working on the scenee: Albertville, Guntersville and
Boaz.  T
hey’re using 2 ladder trucks to put out flames from above.

The flames are starting to die down. The roof of the business was destroyed.

It doesn’t appear any other businesses were damaged.  A fire wall protected the adjacent business.

There’s still heavy smoke over much of the downtown area, and traffic is being blocked from going through.

This photo shows the destruction to the inside of the business.  Musical instruments of all kinds were inside, including banjos and violins on the wall and several drumsets too.  Photo by Chrissy Barton.
