Parents and teachers were thrilled to watch  students at Ridgecrest Elementary School honor local heroes.

Seventy-five fifth graders received their certificate of completion from a 10 week civic, character, and social studies program that insists, "when you honor a hero, you become a hero."

The Super Citizen Program allowed students to nominate, vote for, and honor people with character traits they learned about.

Some of those honored were: volunteer teacher and travel nurse Catherine Chambers, cafeteria worker Ruth Brown ,and Manna House employee Bebe Williams.
