WalletHub: Alabama, Tennessee Cities Among Best for STEM Jobs
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Huntsville-area educators focus a lot on promoting STEM – science, technology, entineering and math.
A new report from WalletHub.com suggests they’re smart to do so. It also pinpoints several cities in Alabama and Tennessee which are among the best for STEM workers.
First, a couple of quick facts about STEM occupations. According to the Department of Commerce, STEM professions will expand 1.7 times faster than non-STEM occupations through 2018.
The annual average wage for all STEM jobs in 2013 was also $79,640, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
WalletHub’s new report analyzed “the 100 largest metropolitan statistical areas in the U.S. across 11 key metrics” to find the best areas for STEM workers in 2015. Although Huntsville did not make the list, Birmingham did at #20. Chattanooga also ranked highly at #32.
