HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - The University of Alabama in Huntsville hockey team won for the third consecutive game at the Von Braun Center with a 2-1 victory over Northern Michigan on Friday night in the opening game of the WCHA series. UAH improves to 6-16-3 (5-12-0 WCHA), while NMU drops to 9-7-5 (6-7-4 WCHA).
The first period was all defense as the Chargers and Wildcats skated to a 0-0 tie through the first 20 minutes. SophomoreCarmine Guerriero stopped all seven shots that came his way, while Brandon Parker got in front of a team-high three shots in the frame.
Junior Jack Prince put the Chargers on the board at 7:37 of the second period when freshman Max McHugh fed him at the red dot and Prince was able to net his fourth score of the season with a sharp wrist shot past NMU's Mathias Dahlstrohm.
The Chargers added to their lead with another score at the 13:18 mark in the second, as junior Frank Misuracaburied a long-range, unassisted goal for his fifth tally in the 2014-15 campaign.
