TAMPA, Fla. – The Auburn Tigers will wear a number 31 decal on their helmets in honor of slain teammate Jakell Mitchell at the Outback Bowl Thursday.

Jakell Mitchell was shot and killed at an off-campus apartment complex in Dec.  The 18-year-old victim was a freshman runner and receiver who was sitting the season out to weight train.

22-year-old Markale Deandra Hart was arrested and charged with murder.

Many Tigers took to social media to remember Mitchell. Thursday would have been his 19th birthday, adding weight to the day.
