SYLVANIA, Ala. (WHNT) – DeKalb County Sheriff Jimmy Harris said a Rainsville man was arrested Friday for a case involving the sexual abuse of a child less than 12 years old.

Roger Dale Harcrow, 63, is in the DeKalb County Detention Center awaiting bond. He is charged with eight counts of sex abuse.

Sheriff Harris said an investigation began November 5 after a family reported the incident to Sylvania Police.

Investigators worked with the Department of Human Resources, the Children’s Advocacy Center and medical personnel at Children’s Hospital in Birmingham.

“This has been a difficult weekend for the victim and her family. I’m glad we were able to get this suspect in custody quickly due to the tremendous anger at his actions,” said Sheriff Harris. “Everyone worked great together and this case will go to the grand jury soon.”
