Coroner: Man’s death in Guntersville ruled a workplace accident

GUNTERSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Police are investigating a man’s death on Morrow Street in Guntersville.

Marshall County Coroner Marlon Killion said the incident has been ruled a workplace accident.

Stephen Paul Woods, 41, of Albertville, died Monday morning around 10:30 a.m.  The coroner said Woods was working on a barge for a company that had just finished building a pier behind the house.

Woods was using a pile driver, but it hit him in the back of the head.  He died instantly, the coroner said.

The area on Morrow Street where this happened is off Highway 227 near the feed mills.

The initial call was a possible electrocution.
