UPDATE: Father of boy burned in explosion speaks about his son’s condition
HAZEL GREEN, Ala. (WHNT) – The father of a 5-year-old Hazel Green boy badly burned in a gas explosion last week reached out to WHNT News 19 to update us about the boy’s condition.
Justin Moore is receiving treatment at the Shriners Hospital for Children in Cincinnati. Moore’s father, Gregory, said his son is breathing on his own but is bandaged from the neck down to his feet and all of his arms and hands.
“It’s mostly all third degree to neck to his wrists and all his back down to his calves , he’s in a total bandage that gets irrigated every two hours to keep him wet . They did the first graft to his chest yesterday on the thinnest part over his ribs where the skin was the worst,” Gregory Moore said.
A local church paid for a plane ticket for the father so he could be there with his son.
“Hopefully my other two young kids will join us to rally around his to promote his spirit,” he said.
