Downtown Huntsville, Inc. Halloween event in Twickenham Square

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) -- Spend Halloween with Downtown Huntsville, Inc. this year. The first Halloween event is the perfect place for families and kids to celebrate around the square. The event features trick or treating, live music and fun for the entire family. Homewood Suites and Artisan Lofts will also have different activities for the whole family to enjoy, as well.

Families can visit businesses in the Twickenham Square area for trick-or-treating, costume prizes and pumpkin carving.

The idea for the Halloween event is for people to get to know and become familiar with the businesses in the area. Chapman says although some of the businesses aren't open yet, people can get a peak at the layout of new shops before officially opening the doors.

The band will start at 5 p.m. near the Artisan Lofts. Make sure to wear your Halloween costume and a bag for all of your candy.

When: Friday, October 31 from 5 to 8 p.m.

Where: Twickenham Square

Downtown, Inc. never ceases to grab all they can, any way they can…and now even invoking our children to have Halloween downtown where their safety is a real concern…

I wouldn’t ban it, but I still admit with no shame it’s my least favorite holiday of the ones that actually matter.

I got to downtown/twickenham almost every weekend I am off in september and october for the Ghost Walks. I have never, ever, even after the walks when hanging out with friends in a parking lot afterwards felt unsafe. I’ve not seen a police presence nor have I seen a need. On a saturday night sometimes as late as 3 AM in such proximity to drinking establishments I think that is saying something. As a woman I think that it is especially outstanding that I’m not looking over my shoulder all night with concern.
