Village of Providence ‘turns pink’ for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month
HUNTSVILLE, Ala — The Village of Providence is turning pink to help promote National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Wednesday, many of the Village of Providence businesses will have large, painted murals in their windows as part of a friendly competition to help create awareness for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The murals are part of the Village’s “Paint the Village of Providence Pink” event.
“We’re excited to see so many of our Village businesses help create awareness for this cause,” said David Slyman, a Village of Providence Town Founder.
The competition was inspired by the University of Alabama’s “Paint the Town Red” homecoming tradition. In addition to helping promote awareness, the participating Village businesses will also be competing for a “Fan Favorite” award on the Village of Providence’s official Facebook page. You can vote for your favorite starting on Wednesday by clicking here.
Slyman added, “It’s certainly a unique event to our area and we can’t wait to see the creativity that comes from our businesses.”
The fan favorite winner will be announced along with live music and entertainment by Josh Allison on Oct 17 at 6:00 p.m. The event will culminate with the lighting of the Providence fountain pink for breast cancer awareness.
In addition to participating in the “Paint the Village of Providence Pink” festivities, at least one Village business is finding several other ways to promote National Breast Cancer Awareness Month locally as well.
