HAZEL GREEN, Ala. (WHNT) – The Madison County Coroner confirmed to WHNT that Hazel Green football player Julian Jones died Monday morning.

The coroner ruled the cause of death to be suicide.

Our hearts are saddened by this tragedy. Our prayers go out to this family, the football families and the many communities this has affected. Coach Jones is a good man, with amazingly talented boys. our prayer is that we come together and support this family in their time of crisis. We pray they find some sort of peace and comfort.

Prayers for the family I am sure they are in shock and need all prayer. So sorry for such a young man was having such a struggle that he felt this was the only way out. We need to be aware of more people around us and try to help if we spot someone like this. Let them know they have a friend and nothing is worth this.

I am so saddened to hear this. Praying for Julian’s family and friends, I really, really am. Our family lost a cousin to suicide many years ago. It still is so hard to understand to those of us he left behind.

Julian was such a sweet young man. I had the pleasure of teaching his older brother Drew at a school in Huntsville and that is how I got to know Julian. This sweet friendly boy would come to my classroom every day just to say hello and hug me. To the Jones family…you will remain in my thoughts and prayers and to all of Julian’s friends and teammates, be encouraged and hold each other up. You have people all across the globe praying for you.

My #12 Gary Wilbourn played with Julian, all I’ve heard is good things and about his contagious smile and how promising of a future he had awaiting him, our thoughts and prayers go out to his family for peace and comfort. Our Hazel Green community came together as family, friends, and teammates during this devastating time. That’s why we are called Trojan Nation. Rest in peace Julian Jones.
