7:43 a.m. Update:
(WHNT) – Police in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee say 6-year-old Ashlynn Tay Young has been found and her mother has been taken into custody.
Police say the two were found just before midnight at a residence in Lucedale, Mississippi.
Authorities say the girl’s mother, Amanda Taye Young, does not have custody of her daughter. She will be extradited to Lawrenceburg to face charges of custodial interference.
Ashlynn Young is being returned to the custody of her grandmother.
The Sheriff’s office in George County, Mississippi and the FBI assisted in the investigation.
Ashlynn Young was taken from David Crockett Elementary in Lawrenceburg on Monday morning. Police say two men were in the car with the girl’s mother, but they did not come inside the school.
They drove away from the school in a four-door white sedan. The car had an Alabama license plate and police thought the vehicle may have been headed toward Mobile, possibly to the small community of Wilmer. No license plate number on the car was given.
