HARTSELLE, Ala. (WHNT) – The City of Hartselle made plans on Monday to move forward with the business of running the city following the mayor’s arrest on September 5.

Mayor Don Hall was charged with DUI in Limestone County.  He was booked in jail and posted $1,000 bond.

Larry Madison, Hartselle City Attorney, issued a statement on Monday saying Hall will be absent from duties for an undetermined period of time to address personal issues.

Council President Bill Smelser will act as Mayor pro tempore with the power and ability of Mayor during this time.  Council President pro tempore Kenny Thompson will serve as Council President, and if Smelser is absent or unable to act, Thompson would have the power and authority of the Mayor during that time.
