Pardon our progress: Madison’s Main Street closed, shops open

MADISON, Ala. (WHNT) – Work to complete the facelift to historic downtown Madison’s Main Street began Tuesday. Main street is closed to thru traffic but the shops along the street are still open for business.

All sidewalks will along storefronts on Main will be fully open Wednesday but heavy equipment will still be present in the area and the street itself will remain closed for about two weeks.

Madison Police have set up two electric traffic signs in the are alerting drivers of the open shops despite Main Street’s temporary closure.

Shoppers can access shops along Main Street by Martin Street and can park in available gravel lot spots.

The project is expected to last about 2 weeks.
