If you’re looking to stay closer to home in North Alabama, the State Tourism Department has a list of special Labor Day events across the Tennessee Valley.
Events feature music, coon dogs, moon pies, parades, pageants and prizes. Most are free events.

And if you want to get outside the borders of Alabama, Yahoo Travel came up with a list of what they’ve found to be the cheapest places for a labor day getaway.
Topping their list is Orlando with hotel rates at about 115 per night.
that’s followed by Telluride, Colorado, where hotels have a “third night free” deal.
The prices go up from there depending on how far you want to go to get away. And many of these deals last through the end of September.
