LAWRENCE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – A man was seriously hurt in a wreck Monday on County Road 200 in the Speake community of southern Lawrence County.
The wreck happened about 8 a.m. State Troopers say a driver was headed north on County Road 200, then came over a hill and lost control. The vehicle went off the left side of the road, knocking down a telephone pole and two trees. The vehicle then slid down an embankment and caught on fire.
Firefighters say the car was engulfed when they arrived.
An elderly man was found in the back of the car. There was no one else inside. The man was rushed to Lawrence County Medical Center, and will be taken to Huntsville Hospital.
State Troopers are investigating further.
