Mustangs Fall Just Short in Title Game Rematch

MADISON, Ala. (WHNT) - AHSAA Class 4A No. 1 Leeds used what could’ve been its undoing to ultimately unify its squad and walk away with a 27-24 victory on a 27-yard field goal by Green Wave kicker Morgan Coston at two-time defending Class 3A champion Madison Academy Friday night.

With 2:09 to play in third, Green Wave quarterback Tadarryl Marshall, who’d gashed the Mustangs defense multiple times, was ejected.

However, Leeds held on, turning to the  power running game of junior running back Tre Nation to lead it to a tight win in a rematch of last year’s Class 3A state title game, which featured several big-time college prospects.
