HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - Mayor Tommy Battle got some much needed relief from the heat Saturday morning after biking four miles during his annual Mayors Bike Ride through downtown Huntsville.

Forget bottled water or fans, the Mayor rounded up a group of kids after the ride and cooled off for a cause. Battle did what everyone has been doing this week: the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.

"This was a good day to do it," Battle said after the challenge. "On the hottest day of the year, after riding, it did feel very good."

Battle said he planned to donate $100 to support ALS research.

U.S. Rep. Mo Brooks, R-Huntsville, Sen. Arthur Orr, R-Decatur, and Republican state school board member Mary Scott Hunter took the challenge Friday in the parking lot outside 1st Family Mortgage in Huntsville.
