Muscle Shoals, Ala. - (WHNT) The best season in school history ended with a heartbreaking loss. Muscle Shoals hung it's hat on a tough defense which allowed right around five points per game. That is, until Spanish Fort hung 35 on the board in Bryant-Denny Stadium.
"When you get to the state championship and you've never been there our guys were a little in aww playing in Bryant Denny, " head coach Scott Basden told WHNT News 19's Chase Horn. " I think that from a coaching standpoint the kids understand that it's a long grind. It's not a sprint, it's a marathon and our goal is the be playing in December."
If the Trojans play a December game this season it will be after plenty of success in the 6A playoffs. Muscle Shoals like many other teams in Alabama moved up a class when a new 7A was created in the winter. Also moving up is their first opponent, Hazel Green which welcomes Muscle Shoals for the opener on August 29th.
