SCANT CITY, Ala. (WHNT)-  Monday was White Goods Pickup Day in Marshall County.   People could take old appliances, electronics or other cumbersome items to the county shops to be disposed of.

"It's a good way to get rid of things you don't use anymore," says Fay Rives, who brought some old vacuum cleaners to the District One shop.

"And you can't put them out on the street.  So they make it convenient for us to come and drop them off here."

The event is designed to give people the opportunity to get rid of old items for free, so that they don't end up on the side of the road in a rural area of the county.
