MONTGOMERY, Ala.  (WHNT)-  A retired Air Force Colonel will be the Alabama Senate District 7 nominee.  Saturday the Alabama Democratic Executive Committee chose Bryan Bennett to take the spot on the November general election ballot.  Bennett will face incumbent Republican Paul Sanford.

The committee chose Bennett to replace Mitchell Howie.  Howie withdrew from the race earlier this month.  He said with his wife’s unexpected pregnancy he felt he needed to spend more time at home.

According to our news partners at The Huntsville Times/Al.com, Bennett says he will support Medicaid expansion, an education lottery and an increase in the minimum wage to $10.10 per hour.

The election is on November 4.
