MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. (WHNT) - Muscle Shoals police say a shootout situation is over, and the suspect is dead. This, following several hours of negotiations at Arbor Village Apartments on 2nd Street. A woman was shot around 11:30 Wednesday morning.
The suspect, Reagan Jones, is dead. The woman who was shot is his sister, Christy Gregory. Family members tell WHNT News 19 Gregory was treated and released from Huntsville Hospital on Wednesday evening.

WHNT News 19’s Carter Watkins is on the scene. An Air Evac helicopter flew away a short time ago, taking the injured person to a nearby hospital.
All available officers and state troopers are being called to the scene.
All traffic is blocked, and police are keeping people clear from the scene. Please do not drive in the area.
There’s no word on who is in the apartment.
Muscle Shoals Police call this a “very dangerous situation” and urge people to stay away from the area near Arbor Village Apartments. Please avoid the entire area of 2nd Street and Firestone.

UPDATE: The shooting victim is a female, flown to Huntsville Hospital for treatment.
Helen Keller Hospital has placed its Emergency Room staff on standby for more possible patients. No one else shot at this time, but the hospital is ready in case more come in.
Some nearby apartments in Arbor Village, near where the shooter is, have been evacuated for safety reasons.

Witness said the shooter is a man, and he never expected this from him.
The scene is quiet for now. Muscle Shoals Police tell WHNT News 19’s Carter Watkins, on the scene, that they are still evacuating some residents near the unit where the shooting suspect is holed up.
Witnesses are standing outside the perimeter, where WHNT News 19’s crew is stationed. The scene sounds calm for now, but we are being kept away from where police are negotiating with the shooting suspect.
Another witness, Chris Jones, is talking about what he saw. He came home from work, he was on break, and went to smoke a cigarette on his balcony.
He heard a noise and went to look at what had happened. Jones said he saw a blood trail and then heard shots and ran to get to safety.
“I was scared,” Jones said. He said he saw the man shoot at police. “Yeah, I got that on video.”
“I thought about jumping off the balcony,” he added. I just locked my doors and hoped for the best.”
Jones said he just moved to the apartments on Monday.
Officers have just brought in negotiators from the Florence Police Department. They’re working to resolve this peacefully.

Police say they’ve been working a very active, very fluid shooting. Right now, confirmation of 1 person shot. Woman flown to Huntsville Hospital.
Police say shooter still inside the apartment. Not discussing many details about the shooter. Police are very thankful for all the assistance they’ve received from other nearby departments.
Police say they’ve evacuated all nearby apartments, because situation is still “very active and very fluid.” The goal is to bring this to a peaceful resolution.
Officer said no nearby schools are on lockdown. The scene is confined to the apartments. Officer continues to ask residents, cyclists to steer clear of Arbor Village Apartments on 2nd Street.
Police say around 3 p.m. officers entered the shooting suspect’s apartment. We are awaiting an update.
UPDATE: Muscle Shoals Police say they are talking with family members. They plan to give a briefing in the next 20 or 30 minutes.
Police are packing items into various vehicles. Many are driving away from the scene.

The shooter is dead, according to Muscle Shoals Police Chief Robert Evans.
The Alabama Bureau of Investigation will now take over the case. Police entered the apartment where the man was holed up and found him deceased, Chief Evans said.
Chief Evans on the help from other police and sheriff’s offices, and State Troopers: “Everyone came together very quickly. We couldn’t have done what we did, had we not had the cooperation from the other agencies that we did.”
