FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – A Shoals man pleaded guilty to capital murder Wednesday in the deaths of his parents in 2011.

Michael McLemore was sentenced to life without parole.  Prosecutors say with the guilty plea, he waives any direct appeals to the murders.

Earlier this year, McLemore was found competent to stand trial. Jurors listened to two days of testimony from doctors who had evaluated McLemore’s mental state.

Investigators say McLemore shot his father and stepmother, Ricky and Connie Hodge, before beating his sister and cousin with a hammer.
