State Championship or Bust for Florence

Florence, Ala. – (WHNT) The goal is simple for new head coach J.B. Wallace and his Florence Falcons football team. Reaching that goal however is far more complicated. The 2014 Falcons are entering the season with a state championship in mind and anything else is a failure.

“If we don’t get a state championship ring, it is a bust,” linebacker Keaton Anderson said this week on the field at Braly stadium.  “Right now that’s all we think about, a blue map and that’s it.” Anderson is one of 38 seniors eyeing the ultimate prize in a new look class 6A. One of his teammates, Roland Adams knows the goal is possible as long as the squad takes it one step at a time.

“We have to win the region then we win a state championship. That’s the main goal for the team, the city, everything.”

Coach Wallace is alright with those lofty expectation, in-fact he’s encouraging the mentality, but telling his team to just follow the lead of last year’s falcons who set the school record for wins in a season. “The group last year, they did everything we asked them to do, they worked hard and I think this group is going to do the same.”

There will not be any trouble getting up for the first game this season, as the Falcons welcome cross-area rival Muscle Shoals to Braly Municipal on August 29th.
