100-year-old records broken in Huntsville & the Shoals

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – The temperature in the Rocket City has dropped to a new record low for this date.

The temperature at Huntsville International Airport dropped to 59 degrees as of 3:00 a.m.

The temperature dipped further to 57 degrees at 5:00 a.m.

The previous record for the date was 60 degrees set back in 1914.

This marks the fourth time this month we have seen temperatures in Huntsville below 60 degrees.

The Shoals also broke a 100-year-old record low this morning registering a temperature of 55 degrees breaking the previous record of 56 degrees.
